Your children have joined the Lycée français international in Beirut, Bchamoun or Abbassieh (Tyre).
As you know, these three schools belong to the Lebanese ELITE group, which administers them and draws on the educational experience of French inspectors general and former senior administrators of the French Ministry of National Education, brought together within the Association Franco-Libanaise pour l’Éducation et la Culture (AFLEC), who guarantee the academic excellence of the teaching provided. The schools are also part of the extensive worldwide network of schools following the French curriculum, administered by the AEFE (Agency for French Education Abroad). All three of our sites are accredited by the French Ministry of National Education, guaranteeing your children access to the French examinations leading to the Diplôme national du Brevet (DNB) at the end of 3ème (Year 10) and to the Baccalauréat – either the French Baccalauréat or the Baccalauréat Français International (BFI) – at the end of Terminale (Year 13), which open the doors to higher education in France and around the world.
Whether they attend school in Beirut, Bchamoun or Abbassieh, your children are therefore welcomed into AFLEC’s network of Franco-Lebanese schools, each of which asserts its own identity while also working in synergy with the others, sharing educational choices and common values. Pupils can naturally move between any of the three sites, as was recently demonstrated, in the current situation in South Lebanon, when places were opened in Beirut and Bchamoun for our pupils from Tyre.
The AFLEC network extends to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Tunisia (Djerba), Malta… And, more broadly, your children are and will remain pupils – and one day alumni – of the great worldwide network of French schools.
In Beirut, Bchamoun and Tyre, we set ourselves three missions:
- Educational excellence, reflected in particular in our pupils’ outstanding examination results.
- The most individualised monitoring of our pupils: attentive and rigorous, yet always personalised and caring.
- The constant search for the best teaching approaches, guaranteed by the quality assurance unit that AFLEC has established, and the constant search for the most relevant teaching methods (with the introduction in Lebanon next year of new “learning and teaching differently” approaches, rolled out and overseen by AFLEC’s educational directorate). This is also guaranteed by prestigious partnerships, such as the one forged with the École Jeannine Manuel in France, which has enabled us to strengthen our expertise in teaching English from Petite Section (Nursery) onwards and to involve our youngest pupils in Grande Section (Reception) in early reading in French;
- Teaching that seeks to instil humanist and civic values in our pupils, with an ambitious and very specific proactive language policy summed up by our motto “Three languages, three cultures”. Our aim is indeed for pupils to master three languages (French, English and Arabic) by the end of their schooling – or even four, as we also offer Spanish;
- Safeguarding our pupils’ safety, an essential mission if ever there was one, and all the more so in the situation Lebanon faces today;
- The joy of learning and of living, which we are determined always to nurture in our pupils.
In recent months, these missions have imposed themselves upon us more forcefully than ever, given the security situation you are aware of, in which we have constantly had to find the best balance between online teaching, welcoming your children on site, and unwavering attention to safety as well as to the best learning conditions.
None of this would be possible without a committed and attentive teaching, administrative and support team.
Nor would any of it be possible without you, the parents, and the constant relationship we maintain with you.
Together, let us shape your children’s future and their success!
